Car rental or transfer? Getting around Barbados

Match your transport to your itinerary and ask the right questions before accepting a quote.

Choose by how often you will travel

A pre-arranged transfer works well for a specific journey. A rental can make sense if you want to explore independently over several days. Consider parking, luggage and how comfortable your designated driver is with the route.

Compare the full rental arrangement

Ask about the car offered, driver eligibility, insurance, security deposit, mileage, fuel policy, roadside assistance and return location. Confirm current licensing and any applicable charges with the provider. Avoid relying on an old article for fees or eligibility rules.

Prepare for local driving

Barbados drives on the left. The national tourism office advises visitors to follow local speed limits and wear seatbelts. Allow time to get familiar with the vehicle and the roads rather than combining an unfamiliar drive with a tightly timed appointment.

Give a transfer request useful detail

Include the pickup and drop-off addresses, preferred time, number of passengers and bags, plus any equipment such as a stroller. For an airport journey, agree how flight changes and waiting time will be handled.

Keep your confirmed arrangement handy

Save the operator's contact, meeting instructions, final quote and cancellation terms. The car photo or starting price in a directory is not a substitute for confirmation of the vehicle and the dates you have reserved.
