Barbadian Artist Setting Worldwide Trends – LR

BARBADIAN ARTIST SETTING TRENDS

Dancehall artist LR is the first Barbadian artist of the genre to reach a million views on YouTube not once but twice and with no accompanying videos in both instances.

“Private Zess” by K-Lion Ft. LR was posted in February 28th, 2020 and hit 1 million views on May 6th, 2020.  The upload is now at 1.3 million views.

“Sly” by Saddis & LR was posted Jan 12, 2020 and hit 1 million views a couple days after the “Private Zess” record did.

LR stands among the most recent wave of dancehall elites to emerge from Barbados and Trinidad.  Other names among that list of elites would include Prince Swanny, Rebel 6ixx, Medz Boss, Leadpipe and Saddis to name a few.

A vast portfolio of LR’s hits apart from the two mentioned earlier, would include songs like “NEVER LISTEN,” “FINAL WARRIOR,” “BE THOU,” and more recent smash hits like “SERIAL,” “LAWS OF ATTRACTION,” “CHARGIE,” “MILLIONS,” “MONSTAS & MALANDROS,” and “NAME OF THE GAME” with Trinidadian counterparts Tafari and Jahllano.

Since October 2019, records have been consistently released at a rate of at least 1 per week and the momentum is showing no sign of easing up anytime soon.
